Mike McCarthy
Our first spotlight is aimed at the wonderful art of Mike McCarthy. Mike is working on the art for Spire ,which is sure to create a bit of a buzz once we start showcasing the first pages here on the site. This spotlight will show off some of his art and talk about his career so far.
History
Mike has been around in games for quite a while now, although he has been an artist for much longer. His first fultime gig as a games concept artist was at TDV (The Digital Village), the media and games company founded by the late Douglas Adams. His work on The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy was highly original and provided great inspiration to the people on the team
After the sad early death of Douglas Adams he moved on to Lost Toys working on Battle Engine Aquila and the unreleased Feral. Eventually mike ended up at Lionhead Studios where to this day he is creating concept art for some of the biggest games in the industry like Black and White II and Fable II
Examples of Mike's Art
Assorted characters from Feral

Demon

A monk

Werewolf

Some royalty, this time a queen

A creepy bodysnatcher

Present
We hope to start unveiling some of Spire's art soon but we can already say that it is looking to be slightly darker than what the contributors can get away with in their normal work. Hopefully the project will be as good as we think it may be. We are much likelier to do so with somebody with Mike's calibre working on it.
If you want to drop Mike an email you can do so here.
